Consider retreating back to a city after every other encounter to repair your weapons and armor you don't want to be in the middle of one of these fights when your equipment breaks. There are a lot of enemies along the way, and each encounter features a minor boss. If you handled the Death Knight patrols, it's time to start the gauntlet toward the Source Temple. It's unlikely your mages will be targeted, especially if you use your front-line fighters to block the way. Physical attacks are all they can do, and they also tend to attack whichever of your party members is physically closest. However, as you fight them, it'll become easier and easier as you get used to the technique. The first time you have the fight, it may feel a little intimidating. Death Knights heal from any magical attack, so your mages should focus on nothing but healing and shielding the others. Your opening move should be to hit the closest Death Knight with the Death Knight Bane spell, then start attacking him with everything you've got from your non-mages. You'll find two separate patrols of three Death Knights each. Head to the swamp and explore around to the west or northwest. The Death Knight will recover and become invulnerable again after a few rounds. The spell doesn't cost too many action points, but note that it's a temporary spell and only targets a single enemy at a time. The good news is that by the time you do everything in this section, your party should be at Level 20.īe sure to teach all party members the Death Knight Bane spell. If you can't beat the Death Knights, you will significantly struggle in the battles to come. This includes fighting the Death Knights for the first time (if you haven't already) to test your strength. With that said, let's look at some aspects which will make your Divinity experience much less frustrating.With the Forest Rune in hand, it's time to finish off exploring the entirety of the Phantom Forest. I also went for the optimal EXP route which is why there's a lot of sidequests that DON'T give exp since Tactician mode requires you to be on par with enemy levels, unless you are 4v1 or they are "gateway" battles to test whether or not you can move onto the next area. There's a lot of backtracking, especially in the first area, but I went for the achievement and playing it safe for some achievements that seem to have bugged out for some. I may not take the most optimal route through the game I will admit. There are 54 achievements, and only 17 are story related, the other 37 can be missed but have no fear! The missable achievements are for the most parts, just sidequests that can be missed or overlooked, none of them are particularly hard to unlock outside of Honour mode. Looking at the achievements, it might seem a bit daunting. While you can play this game with someone else, I would highly discourage doing it at least in Honour mode as you really should have a game plan and execute it to a T to make battles have the least amount of troubles, having someone else control and potentially not going along with the plan may throw a wrench in it. While you might think you could play on an easier setting, the enemies spawn differently, have a more varying skill-set and there are some things in the game that are changed in regards to stats so I suggest just jumping in the pool.
By at least playing through the game once you get a huge feel for the game mechanics, you know what's coming. Honour mode just adds more oomph by making you only have one save slot, and the game auto-saves when one of your character dies, and if both character die? You save is gone and you have to restart. However, I suggest you play 2 separate playthroughs as Tactician mode alone can be extremely punishing. Be prepared to sink many many hours (over 100) into this game as there is a lot to explore, a lot to do to make your experience optimal and honestly if you enjoy turn-based combat style RPG games this one is right up your alley.ĭivinity has two achievements in regards to difficulty, playing on both Tactician and Honour mode, and they are stackable.
